I can say that -- I've lived with you for 20 LONG years! You will be missed, we loved you as much as you annoyed us (ok me really). Linda treated you like one of our children before we had children.
We found you up a tree almost 20 years ago (seriously in a tree and yes 20 years) in California. You were very small (maybe a few weeks old), scrawny and very scared (I'm sure it didn't help I threw a ball at you in hopes to get you down -- not my proudest moment). It took us hours to find someone to come and pluck you from that tree -- Edison Electric of all people -- hence your name Edison. You were the last to join our little growing brood, but I think you ended up the favorite (cat). Your little stature didn't last long, at one point you were over
22 lbs and had a belly that swayed side to side when you walked. We had to hide all the food on the counters or risk invasion (nothing was spared -- pizza, sandwiches etc).

We always seem to find you hiding inside a bag, or a box,
under the bed, curled up in a chair or of course in your mom's lap. I spent many nights contorting my body in non-human ways to make space for you between your mom and I. Your late night "songs of your people" were loud and proud -- and you never EVER missed a meal (and made sure we didn't forget either). I think I can count on one hand how many days you actually spent outside, you were definitely an inside boy.

You've been a part of our lives longer than we've had children, and longer than we've been married, the last hold out from our time in California. We will miss your massages, your never ending purring, the treats at the bottom of the stairs, your midnight songs and your unconditional love and companionship. I'll leave the sink on for you. Rest in peace little buddy (and yes that title is an inside joke). |
